Today (7 July) saw 71 youth football teams from all over Devon and Somerset congregate on Mountbatten Park in Honiton for the annual HTYFC summer six-a-side tournament.

The competition included teams from Under 9's up to Under 16's. There were refreshments on sale, a barbecue and a bouncy castle set up.

Honiton Sports Shop was also running a pop-up shop at the event. Nub News spoke to store owner, Helen Newman: "We're here giving away an all-sport, full team kit to one lucky team who wins it."

"We love supporting these community sporting events - it's always such a great atmosphere!"

Tournament secretary, Andrew Horn, said: "We've got teams competing from North Devon, Plymouth and Exeter District League - which we're in. We've also got a couple of teams from Yeovil, so it's quite good!

"We've been running this tournament for about 15 years now - it's our main fundraiser.

"We have mixed teams all the way up to Under 16's. At Honiton we've got three girls who play.

"We have 12 or 13 teams at Honiton Town Youth Football Club, who all play on a Saturday. We normally have three or four games - it's chaos!"
