An active member of the Honiton community is hoping to pull off one of the most gruelling physical challenges, by running an ultramarathon for charity.
Caroline Kolek took up running just two years ago, after downloading the Couch to 5k App, and is now gearing up to complete 100km/62 miles this July.
You can support Caroline's incredible journey by donating whatever you can to her chosen cause – Cancer Research UK.
"When I started with the App and found that I couldn't run for one minute, I almost cried," she admitted.
"But I stuck at it and completed my first half marathon six months later in the New Forest.
"I have now signed up to complete Race to the Stones in July and hope to complete it in about 16 hours.
"The route starts at Lewknor following the Ridgeway to Avebury Ring Stone Circle and is celebrated as Britain's oldest footpath."
Caroline is raising money for Cancer Research UK, with proceeds going directly to help fund research into prostate cancer.
She explained: "My husband, Stephen, had a scare a few years ago.
"A friend in Hampshire who I've known for 40 years has recently won his battle with it.
"But sadly another friend is currently fighting stage three prostate cancer."
Talking about her new-found love of running, she said: "Like many people my mental health took a bit of a tumble last year and I found running a real help.
"I like running on my own, there's something quite liberating about it.
"I also run with a fabulous group of women on a Wednesday evening, 'Women on the Run'.
"Everyone is really friendly and supportive, the group includes all ages and abilities.
"All you need is a pair of trainers, some determination and a big sense of humour.
"If I can I'd like to recommend Run Venture on the High Street who were super helpful and knowledgeable when I bought a new pair of trainers there last month.
"Also Marina at Bodyworx Soft Tissue Therapy for helping with an on going injury.
"Any sponsorship to raise money for Cancer Research UK would be gratefully received."
