No trains will run through Honiton next Wednesday due to strike action
Planned strike action will take place next Wednesday (July 27) and it means there will be no trains to or from Honiton Train Station.
Network Rail and more than 2,100 South Western Railway (SWR) RMT trade union members are set to strike for another day, which is the second in just over a month. Railway workers are taking action over their conditions and pay.
South Western Railway will be running a severely reduced timetable and large parts of the network will be closed completely. On Thursday 28 July train services will start much later than usual and are expected to be very busy.
There will no services to the South West beyond Basingstoke, meaning that people will not be able to travel to Honiton on the train. Customers who need to travel on Wednesday are urged to find alternative ways of getting to their destination. If they must travel, customers should expect severe delays.
Network Rail will provide cover for key roles, including electrical control room operators, signallers, maintenance and response teams, but it will not be able to cover the whole day.
The RMT union warned that further strikes will be taking place on Thursday 18 and Saturday 20 August, the details of which will be published in due course.
