Ottery dance school children celebrate outstanding results
The students at JW Dance in Ottery St. Mary are celebrating receiving outstanding results in their recent examinations.
64 dancers attended extra coaching to support their weekly ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) ballet, tap and modern dance classes in preparation for examinations.
Earlier this year, an examiner visited the East Devon school for two days in order to observe the students. The dancers showcased their work in small groups, and some of the exams were more than an hour long.
Every student passed the examination with 63% or above, receiving a merit or a distinction.
The highest park awarded was 91%.
The ISTD is an international professional exam board and UCAS points are awarded based on the exams.
Principal and Owner of the dance school Jo Wilson said: "I am so proud of our students and how hard they have worked to achieve these outstanding results.
"To have such high marks requires real focus on body alignment, attention to detail and fantastic performance skills.
"With these exam results and opening our own studio on Mill Street in Ottery St Mary, it really has been a fantastic academic year."
