A planning application has been submitted to East Devon District Council - validated on September 12 - to 'change the use' of what was formerly The Dolphin Hotel, now known as Montgomery's Hotel on Honiton High Street.

The applicant, Great Western Properties Ltd., has plans to transform the premises, which has been in disuse since the closure of The Orange Tree, into a restaurant.

A separate application by the same applicant, asks for permission to carry out "internal alterations to include new partition walls."

Honiton Town Council Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday 1 October to decide on their recommendation for the plans.
