It has been reported that Fountain Antiques on Honiton High Street was broken into over the weekend and items of jewellery stolen.

According to a statement issued by the shop on social media: "Thousands of pounds worth of gold rings and silver mainly taken. Please keep aware and contact the police if you are offered any large quantities."

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed: "Police are investigating a burglary of jewellery at Fountain Antiques on Honiton High Street sometime between 6pm on Saturday, 29 February and 9.30am Monday, 2 March.

"Witnesses or anyone with information is to call 101 quoting CR/018649/20."

Nub News spoke to the owner of Fountain Antiques, who said: "This is the first time that this has happened in over 40 years of being here.

"We had a lady come in the shop earlier who told us that a shop on Lace Walk was also burgled very recently.

"We wish to thank all of our customers and members of the Honiton community who have supported us.

"We are open again and it's business as usual while the police investigate."

One well-wisher wrote on social media: "This shop adds character and individuality to our town - please support them in any way you can."
