Roundabout on Battishorne Way to become an area of 'biodiversity' as part of wildflower project

By Hannah Corfield 17th Sep 2021

Honiton Town Council will meet to discuss instigating a wildflowers project in the town, using S106 funding and support from the local community.

The aim is "to consider the establishment of wildflowers in different areas of Honiton, commencing with a project at Battishorne Way."

According to the report 'support has already been voiced' for the project, which could see a wagon placed on the roundabout opposite Honiton Tesco.

"It is believed that there is room for the wagon to be placed on the roundabout without it obstructing the sight lines of traffic, but this would have to be checked with Devon Highways.

"We are also led to believe that Combe Garden Centre would help with the maintenance of the roundabout in return for a small sign denoting their efforts in supporting this project."

Cllr Caroline Kolek, the town clerk and Mr Adam Powell, a local horticultural expert, have already met to discuss trialling the project at the proposed site on Battishorne Way - with a full meeting to be held on September 9.
