A Honiton based SEN sports group, which was set up by Lea Bamford, is now offering Muay Thai sessions for children with additional needs.

Lea told Nub News: ""I'm absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with the brilliant Paul Quick - who owns Twin Tigers Martial Arts and Boxing Club on the High Street - to offer children with additional needs a sensory-friendly Muay Thai session.

"I'm really excited about this because many children with neurological disabilities, such as ADHD and autism, can find the world really frustrating and in response to this, can become aggressive.

"Muay Thai is a really good way to release tension and stress, so I know this will be a valuable resource for our SEN community.

The first session will be held on Tuesday, 4 February and will run every Tuesday thereafter, from 4 - 4:30pm.

"This will be an ideal class for children with autism/ADHD/PDA, as it provides excellent relief for built up tension, a little discipline and some calm breathing, which is a wonderful support for self-regulation," Lea explained.

"It will be a really small group, to help keep it sensory friendly and we will be charging just £3.50 for the session with Paul quick, who is a skilled Muay Thai coach.

"Parents are encouraged to stay and join in if they wish," she added.

The SEN sports group is currently on the lookout for sponsorship, as a registered charity (number 1185053).

If any local businesses would like to sponsor one of the sessions that the group provides, they should contact Lea Bamford via email [email protected] or phone 07375494257.
