A suspicious device handed in at Honiton Police Station caused a panic yesterday, with officers evacuating a number of residents.

A member of the public attended the police station at around 2pm yesterday with a device which had been located on Seaton beach a few days prior.

A 30m cordon was put in place and a number of local residents were evacuated.

Royal Navy explosives experts have attended and assessed the device.

They have advised officers that it is not believed to be an explosive device and they will remove it for disposal.
