The best place to see snowdrops near Honiton

Every year we are treated to the beautiful spectacle of snowdrops emerging, pristine and white, from the wintery earth.

They herald the first signs of spring, usually blooming from late January to March, and belong to the bulb family of plants.

For people living in the Honiton area, one of the best local spots for snowdrops is the St Philip and St James church, on the edge of the Escot estate in the parish of Talaton near Feniton.

During snowdrop season, much of the woodland around the church is covered in a stunning carpet of white.

There is even an event dedicated to the annual flowering; people are invited to attend Snowdrop Weekend at Escot church on February 15-16 from 10am - 4pm.

An exhibition of photographs of the wildflowers that grow in the churchyard will be on display, with refreshments available - flyer attached to the photo reel above.
