The Ottery Food and Family Festival 10th anniversary event is cancelled due to lack of funds
The popular Food and Family Festival has been cancelled this year to to lack of funds.
The annual festival, which takes place in September, was due to celebrate its 10th year this summer but it will no longer go ahead.
Last year's event was a great success and was attended by nearly 3,000 people.
The organisers said that the economic situation affected the planners as well as sponsors and the event was not viable.
In a statement to Nub News, the Food and Family Festival said: "The event costs £15,000 to put on and we were around £5k short of that which mainly came from fundraising last year.
"Unfortunately, our fundraiser had to stand down and we couldn't get a replacement in time which is what left the hole.
"Some of our regular sponsors and advertisers also didn't come forward this year because they are feeling the effects of the economic climate and that made things harder.
"95% of our traders are from East Devon and most of the festival goers so we expect it to have a knock on effect locally.
"It's been a really tough decision to take, especially as it's the 10th festival, but we have to look forward and try to make 2024 the absolute best it can be
