Three local choirs - including Honiton's Sweet Honi Choir - will come together to perform at The Beehive later this month.
On 20 May Sweet Honi will perform a triple-bill with Sidmouth's Gospel Choir and the brand new Devon based Pop-Up Youth Choir. Together they will entertain the audience and put on a unique show at Honiton's award-winning community-centre, The Beehive.
Led by Dan Nicholls since 2019, Sweet Honi Choir is made up of 40 enthusiastic singers from Honiton and the surrounding villages. Founded in 2011, the choir has gone from strength to strength.
Dan also teaches music at Honiton Primary School and is an accomplished singer and songwriter in his own right.
Sweet Honi now has a permanent Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass section, and is accompanied by its own live band.
In 2022 The Beehive hosted a special benefit concert by Sweet Honi in aid of the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal, which raised £1,351.50.
At this month's show, Sweet Honi Choir will perform more than a dozen brilliant new arrangements of familiar classics by artists ranging from the Everly Brothers and Fleetwood Mac to Adele and Lady Gaga - and members of the audience will be invited to join in!
There are no auditions to join the choir and everyone is welcome.
Martin Staniford lives in Awliscombe and he has been with Sweet Honi Choir since its inception. He said: "Dan is our third leader and he's taken Sweet Honi in a new direction with new songs, keeping the experience fresh, and the development of an in-house band."
Another member of the choir, Kay, sung the praises of joining the choir: "Two hours of singing and laughing with Dan and the Sweet Honi Choir should be on prescription. I can't recommend it enough!"
The concert will take place on Saturday 20 May at 7pm.
Tickets £12/£5. You can book tickets via the Box Office at The Beehive.
