Thirty carers and their cared-for enjoyed a trip to Langport for Sunday lunch at the Langport Arms Hotel yesterday (February 1).

We were treated to a wonderful drive and were able to experience some of the flooding as we drove along.

The two-course lunch was delicious; a beautifully hot Carvery with freshly cooked fresh vegetables, followed by a choice of scrumptious deserts.

Later, some enjoyed a stroll up to the beautiful church whilst others participated in a quiz based on TV programmes, this was jointly won by Mary Pullen and Ann Mitchell.

The first coach departed Langport at 3pm for a leisurely drive back home with drop offs directly at each individual front door, the other coach enjoyed a drive around Langport to take in the stunning views from the top of the hill before driving back to the Tesco drop off point.

This was all funded by Devon County Council – Doing What Matters Project, which enables Trip Community Transport to link in with lonely and often isolated people.

The meal and travel was paid for by the grant, just a £5 donation was required towards cost.

What an incredible bargain. We all definitely enjoyed a fabulous day out.

Trip have more dates available during March and some of our carers are seriously thinking about a further trip if there are any spaces left.

Honiton Carers Support Group would like to thank Trip for including us in this scheme which has proved most beneficial to our carers and cared for according to the very positive feed back forms we received back.

They mostly said that had they not been on the trip today they would have been at home, probably watching the TV by themselves and some have not eaten a hot meal with anyone else in several months.

Today gave u all a huge lift and was a great success.
