As a town, Honiton is geographically blessed; in close proximity to the natural splendour of the Blackdown Hills and surrounded by rich, green habitat and ancient woodland.

Beautiful views are aplenty, but one of the most iconic landmarks on the horizon has to be Hembury Hill Fort; a prominent feature looming on Honiton's north western skyline.

Dating back to prehistoric times, Hembury Fort was originally a Neolithic site, before the hill fort - with the deep gullies still there today - was built as a defensive vantage point for Roman occupants during the Iron Age.

It is now a popular beauty spot for dog walkers, families and nature lovers alike. The video footage included within this article was captured by Stephen Elford, using a drone.

Recently, with the pandemic, nature has been celebrated more than ever for its ability to provide an uplifting antidote to the fear and uncertainty we are all currently faced with.
