Sweet gesture of thanks for Honiton business and NHS staff

By Hannah Corfield 17th Sep 2021

Newly set up community kitchen in Honiton found a 'sweet' way to say thanks for the towns' health services and for the generous contributions of a local business.

Cakes were delivered to NHS staff at Haydens Court, NHS staff at Honiton Ambulance Station and to the team at Denhay - producers of award-winning bacon - who have donated lots of produce to The Random Kitchen.

Volunteers at The Random Kitchen showed their gratitude for all three valuable assets to Honiton by dropping a cake off to their workplaces.

Local bacon-curing business, Denhay, have been dishing out the rashers to the charity effort to help provide meals for members of the community struggling on lockdown.

Technical Manager, Helen Brandom commented: "We're all just really pleased to be able to help out and actually do something positive in what are horrendous times for everybody."

Also in receipt of a tasty treat; NHS staff at Honiton Ambulance Station were 'delighted' by the surprise delivery.

Dave Leach and Debbie Paxman who were on call at the time said: "It's lovely! Everybody is being so fab, it's great."

The Community Mental Health Team at Haydens Court also added their words of gratitude for the gesture.

Receptionist, Claire Bottomely said: "We've been so overwhelmed with kindness, it's really beautiful. Everyone is being wonderful and have come together so well.

"We're still open to our clients over the phone if they need us," Claire added.
