VIDEO: Virtual tribute to the 75th Anniversary of VE Day in Honiton

By Hannah Corfield 17th Sep 2021

Today (May 8) marks the 75th Anniversary of VE Day in Honiton. A day we pay tribute to the end of World War Two in Europe and our respects to everyone who endured the war in the fight for our freedom.

Under normal circumstances Honiton residents would gather together to celebrate the day; however, with social distancing measures in place to combat the spread of Covid-19, The Royal British Legion has advised against such social events.

Instead, a virtual act of homage will take place in the town, with respects also being paid to those who have lost their lives in the current pandemic and to the NHS staff on the frontline.

Take a look at how the 1st Honiton Scout Group have decorated their hall with poppy displays.

We would love to see how our readers are marking this momentous occasion - please comment below with photos of your day and we'll create a special gallery in honour of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day in Honiton.
