A 15-year-old singer from Honiton, Emilene, has released a single to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

The charity has been set up to support NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.

Emilene Doble, along with best friend Maddy Hopgood who plays piano, recorded 'Over the Rainbow' from the 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz' as a way to say thank you to to all those on the frontline providing healthcare and essential services.

Mike Ponting set up InspireStudio, based near Cotleigh just outside Honiton, where Emilene and Maddy have been recording music together for over two years.

He told Nub News: "In the process of exploring songs for a singing competition, Emilene wanted to have a go at 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow', which was originally performed by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.

"At a practice session last December we recorded her first take.

"The song was a great choice for Emilene's natural tone and range, although she never planned to release it.

"During these times of crisis and with the 'over the rainbow' theme which has emerged as symbol of hope and gratitude, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to the courageous and committed NHS staff.

"InspireStudio is in a rural spot, so no one could hear our 'Clap for the NHS' - so I pieced together some footage from nearby and made a short film, that is our applause.

"The NHS is in need of our support, so if you can afford to drop a few pounds to NHS Charities Together please follow this link for our fundraising page."
