The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain as the heatwave is set to end with thunderstorms this weekend.
It comes after the weather agency sent out its first ever extreme heat warning on Monday (19 July) for the South West, West Midlands, and South Wales.

Covid cases have increased in every part of Devon, with the number of people in hospital tripling in the past week.
According to government data for the week to Wednesday 14 July, the rates in Plymouth and Torbay climbed significantly above the national average.
The Met Office issued an 'extreme heat' warning at 4.05pm today (19 July) as temperatures topped 30 degrees in many areas.
The warning covers the entire South West, as well as the West Midlands and South Wales, and is in place until 11.59pm on Thursday 22 July.

The proportion of people in Devon seeing their GP face-to-face, rather than online or by phone, is higher than the national average.
A report from the chair of the NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Dr Paul Johnson, shows that, based on the latest available data from March, 59 per cent of GP consultations are in person.
Each year the scout group gives out the annual awards to one person from each section.
The youngsters are chosen for being kind, helpful, sensible, and generally looking out for members in their section as well as guiding the new members.
