A handful of Honiton community projects are among over 50 East Devon initiatives helped through the councils' Covid-19 Fund.
The Covid-19 Fund is a joint grants scheme from East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Devon County Council (DCC) quickly providing small grants, typically between £300 and £700.

The South West "can look forward to a brighter future" once the pandemic is over, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said.

Council tax payers in Devon and Cornwall are being asked for an increased payment for policing, which will help fund additional officers and strengthen the response to violent and sexual crime.
The latest crime figures for the year to September 2020 showed the Devon and Cornwall force area had the second lowest overall crime rate in England and Wales, but was the ninth lowest for violent crime.

A plucky team of rowers taking on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in aid of the Honiton-based Devon Freewheelers have crossed the finish line after 50 days at sea.
The four-strong Force Genesis, who set off on the 3,000-mile row on December 12, 2020, were welcomed back as heroes when they reached Nelson's Dockyard English Harbour, in Antigua, on Monday, February 1.

Masterplan work on turning 'pretty' green fields near Honiton into an economic driver for the wider region is now underway.
Councillors on Wednesday night unanimously backed plans to commit up to £20,000 towards the costs of undertaking a masterplan exercise for the Hayne Lane site next to Combe Garden Centre on the outskirts of town.

It has been reported that the May local elections, due in Honiton, are set to go ahead despite concerns around coronavirus.
Many predicted that elections would be delayed until October, however the BBC reports today (5 Feb), citing government sources, that elections at local councils and for police and crime commissioners will go ahead.
East Devon cricketers will be competing this summer in the very first local T20 tournament, commencing in June.
With recreational sport still in lockdown, it is not yet known whether the Devon Cricket League will be operating a full programme or tiered mini-leagues as with last season.
