Honiton public artworks project aims to increase footfall in the town

A project to install artwork around Honiton is set to be discussed at a full council meeting on Monday 9 December.
Chair of Town Management, Cllr Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, has proposed that well known local artist, Mr Alwyn Bowen, produce the illustrations.
Mr Bowen is the artist responsible for the current public artworks that are being used by Exeter City Council.
Draft examples of the type of art that could be installed around the town centre, along with the proposed locations can be seen using the scroll tool on the image reel above.
Cllr Sheridan-Shaw has stated that the artwork created 'will be both vibrant and unique and will capture Honiton's history and tourist attractions.'
He added: "In order to make the most of Mr Bowen's work there are a number of marketing and promotional ideas that have been discussed."
"Just one of these would be to affix a Quick Reference (QR) code to the images that will, when scanned link up with web sites, attractions web pages and the new council website once it is up and running."
In addition to the artwork, an illustrated map of the town is also being discussed.
The report concludes: "It is proposed that members resolve to allocate a budget of £5,000 to enable the posters to be created, with a further £3,000 to be allocated if the map is to be included."
