Last week Tesco Honiton opened its doors to Force Cancer Research.

Since the introduction of a chemotherapy service at Honiton hospital, Tesco Honiton have been keen supporters at a grassroots community level.

Local community inspired couple, Steve and Marion Craddock approached Tesco Honiton to seek some support.

The idea was introduced that Tesco could support on a weekly basis with fresh fruit.

Tesco Community Manager, Duncan Sheridan-Shaw worked with the store's produce manager, James Parker, to ensure bananas, oranges, apples, strawberries and other seasonal fresh fruit and supplies of milk were made available for the team every Friday morning!

Last weekend Marion and Duncan arranged an impromptu collection up at the store and we are pleased to tell the community that the collection raised £602.00.

Community Manager and local Town Councillor, Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, said: "I'm amazingly pleased that our customers supported so much and as a councillor it bolsters my resolve that we do indeed live in a kind and giving community."

Tesco Honiton will now turn its fundraising skills toward local youth sports groups, after a local town council meeting with many youth groups.

Any youth groups are encouraged to contact Duncan via the Tesco store.
