A road traffic accident between a van and a motorbike occurred on the A35 just before 11.30am, and part of the A35 has been closed as a result.

The incident happened between the Dalwood turn off (Shute) and the Axminster turn off.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Part of the A35 was already scheduled to be closed to repair a landslip which happened in October 2021.

A statement on the National Highways website says: "The A35 in Devon is closed in both directions between A358 (Axminster) and A30 (Honiton) due to a serious collision.

"The A35 was already closed between these points for planned roadworks however, the collision has occurred at this location.

"Emergency services are currently on scene."

Traffic is currently being diverted via local roads.
