Honiton Market has returned to the High Street and is a welcome sight for many shoppers who are keen to support local traders.
The reopening of the market has not been without its controversy; however at the heart of it is a group of small independent businesses who uphold an important tradition within Honiton - as a market town.
For the month of June, stallholders at Honiton Market are being given free pitches as a way of support through the current economic difficulties imposed by the coronavirus crisis.
"Our aim is to encourage traders and to reduce the need for cash, as Honiton Town Council cannot receive card payments," Councillor John Taylor told Honiton Nub News.
He continued: "We hope to be able to offer the same for July too, however that's yet to be decided.
"The market is great because it's bringing money to the town in the sense that we're trading again.
"Ultimately we need to attract people to the High Street; for the market and for the shops when they reopen."
Health and safety measures to reduce the risk of infection have been implemented; such as hand sanitisers, social distancing markers and measures for reduced human contact.
