Honiton Town Council have shared the provisional results of the public consultation on the future of The Beehive.

At a Full Council Meeting this evening (Monday 8 August) Town Clerk Stephen Hill said 702 responses had been collected so far, plus 25 responses which were received at the Honiton Show on August 4.

433 responses were from via the website and 269 were from hard copies.

Respondents were asked to rank their preferences in order. The options were to continue to support the HCC (the Honiton Community Complex) until the end of its lease (option 1), run The Beehive as a charity (option 2), The Beehive is owned by the council but leased, managed by and run as a commercial organisation (option 3) and finally sell The Beehive (option 4).

According to Mr Hill, approximately 75% of respondents ranked their preferences in rank order - i.e most people voted to continue to support the HCC until the end of its lease.

He said: "A healthy majority is in favour of supporting HCC."

Further information will be released shortly.
