Otter Garden Centre friends in 15,000ft skydive for Hospiscare
Two colleagues who work together at Otter Garden Centres are preparing to jump out of an aeroplane in aid of Hospiscare.
So far they have raised £498.
Sally Bright of Honiton and Lauren Pearcy of Ottery St. Mary were inspired by a video of another Hospiscare skyjump to take the plunge.
They will be jumping out of an aeroplane at 15,000ft above Dunkeswell airfield and, according to Lauren, they are not looking forward to it.
It is not the first time they have raised money for the Devon-based charity. Last year Lauren walked 30 miles for the charity, which provides end-of-life care and support for their families.
Both Lauren and Sally lost their mothers to cancer and they want to help Hospiscare continue to provide the support that they received.
In addition, Sally is celebrating her 60th birthday this year, which is why they decided to push themselves to do the skydive.
Lauren said: "We have both lost our Mum's to cancer and Hospiscare was there for them and us, so Sally and I are taking on the ultimate challenge of a 15,000ft skydive for Hospiscare - as if walking 30 miles in a day for the charity last year wasn't enough!
"It's Sally's 60th birthday this year which is also why we wanted to complete a big challenge. Neither of us have skydived before so we are very anxious but really looking forward to it at the same time.
"It's so far out of both of our comfort zones but we really wanted a new challenge for Hospiscare, after walking 30 miles in a day for them last year.
"We have chosen to support Hospiscare because we have both lost our mums to cancer and Hospiscare was there for them and us.
"It's important to us that their services can continue to be there for anyone who may need them."
It comes as Hospiscare have issued a plea to local gardeners to grow or donate plants for the upcoming Bumper Plant Sale.
