Honiton Town Council is holding a recruitment campaign to encourage people to stand as councillors.
Local elections will take place on Thursday 4 May 2023.
Every term (which is usually every four years) all councillors across the country must be re-elected, including all Councillors at East Devon District Council and 18 at Honiton Town Council.
At a recent meeting, Honiton Town Council voted unanimously to launch a recruitment campaign.
There will be two recruitment events. The first will take place tomorrow (Thursday 2 March) at 7pm at Combe Raleigh Village Hall. The second will take place at The Beehive on Saturday 11 March between 2pm and 4pm.
Nominations to stand need to be received by 4pm on 4 April.
Everyone is welcome to attend the events. Tea and coffee will be provided and current Honiton Town Councillors will be present to answer any questions or provide information.
Stephen Hill is Honiton's Town Clerk and he told Nub News: "The council information events are intended to give people information so that they are encouraged to Nominate themselves (by 4 April 2023) as Candidates for the local Elections on 4 May 2023.
"People can talk to Officers and current Town Councillors to get an idea of the contribution they can make to Honiton's community as a Town Councillor and the work, tailored to their interests and skills and the time commitment required.
"The Council wants a good number of people to put themselves forward as Candidates so that the public have options who to Vote for at the Elections. "
