Honiton Rugby Football Club are proud to announce a new sponsorship agreement with three local companies who will be the main sponsors of the Junior section of the club for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.

The sponsorship agreement relates to the purchase of 100 new shirts to be used by five teams in the junior section of the club and we are extremely grateful to Red Homes Estate Agents, Bests of Honiton and Synergy Farm Vets for their expanded support to the club.

What a great morale boost we had at the weekend! As I said last week, we got a 'kicking' from Bideford when we went up there and when I watched them warming up it looked like the same personnel would be on show, so I was a tad concerned - or was I?

It was strange. Our team sheet looked good and there was a sort of air of confidence about the place. I couldn't find anyone 'mood hoovering' the notion of anything but a win.

Saturday saw Honiton at Allhallows again, welcoming North Devon visitors Bideford.

Honiton's trip up there early in the season was a bit of disaster as the Ton were dispatched with ease.

Big day today; the long awaited 'sausage trifle' has been signed off (aka 'Brexit' for those of you who haven't been reading my drivel closely).

So, we're off in a direction, which I think we all agree is a good thing, as it's stopped the old stalemate situation.

I'll get straight to it this week and will start with a frustrating afternoon over at Wellington - no I won't!

I'll start with the fact that once again our Twos were without a game. We were due to go to South Moulton with a strong side, but at the last minute we got the dreaded call to say they couldn't raise a side.

Honiton received the kick off and started solidly. Early exchanges around the half way line saw Honiton enjoy early possession add in a turnover and the away side were holding their own.

Several penalties to the home side saw them pressure the Honiton try line but strong defence and winning a penalty at the breakdown saw the pressure relieved.

Hi all, well as I'm sure you are aware if you're a local, tis wetter than an otters pocket!

Which means rugby is a tad tricky at the moment. It's rare for us to call it so early but frankly I've not seen the pitches this wet for years.

Woz On - right where to start? It's starting to get cold, might have to get my winter coat out at last.

What else? Erm... I put the bins out last night, which is always one of my highlights of the week. As I get even older, I'm guessing the excitement of doing this each week, will grow.

On a gloomy and very cold Saturday, Honiton were at home with an unscheduled rearranged game form the week before when the pitches were waterlogged.

It was supposed to be a free week for recuperation but as is invariably the case with free weekends and the unpredictability of the winter weather, catch up games usually fill up any week's off.
