Heritage artist Jo Burt is an English songwriter, storyteller, singer and guitar player possibly best known for his incredible history working with musical legends such as Freddie Mercury, The Troggs and even Black Sabbath over the past 40 years.
Watch them in action - HERE
Burt spent much of his early career in the late 70s and throughout the 80s and 90s touring the globe with various music icons including Jimmy Page, The Police, Elton John, Brian Setzer, Bob Geldof - and of course Freddie Mercury, Black
Sabbath and 'Godfathers of Punk' The Troggs - and recording in some of the best studios the world had to offer. His is a unique and fascinating insight into the heady days of rock & roll, now long gone.
The last 15 years have seen Jo making a name in his own right. His band was originally created as a songwriting development tool, and ultimately became an outstanding live act playing festivals and venues around the UK, Europe and Canada, including a slot at Glastonbury Festival in 2017.
In 2017, Burt launched his 'Acoustic by Candlelight' series of concerts in stunning churches across the Westcountry, which were been a consistent sell-out for the three years in which he undertook them. In 2019 he added a brand new show entitled 'Me, Myself & Icons' to theatres, clubs and halls across the UK and Europe. The show premiered in London at the famous Phoenix Arts Club, and comprises acoustic music interspersed with brilliant stories about his time working with some of the biggest names in music.
With lockdown interrupting work on album number for, and a full schedule of tour dates for 2020, Burt, like so many other artists, was forced to put everything on hold. During this enforced isolation he began work on his autobiography and when restrictions were relaxed was able to complete recording and production on his forthcoming album, due for release in 2023.
This year, he will also be returning to the stage. The show also includes his own versions of some of the biggest hits from the artists that shaped his career. He is an hypnotic performer, drawing in his listeners with tales from his recording and touring past, and telling gripping and intriguing stories through his songs themselves.
His warm and enthusiastic approach never fails to endear him to his audience and Jo and his band continue to electrify with the mixture of high energy, honesty, intensity and humour that they bring to each performance
