Storm Eunice has arrived in East Devon, and it is causing large waves in Sidmouth which are crashing onto the promenade.

Kyle Baker is a freelance photographer and film maker based in Sidmouth. He is 24 years old. Kyle is also a volunteer crew on Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat. He took these photos on Friday between at 8am on Sidmouth promenade.

Kyle told Nub News: "It was very windy, with waves crashing over into the road. I stayed a safe distance away and used a zoom lens to photograph the storm.

"We are lucky that this isn't the full brunt of the storm, at high tide, as I believe a lot more damage would have been done.

"There were a few spectators, and a lot of people driving by to get to work/take a look at the storm. Everyone was being sensible and keeping a safe distance.

"When I first looked the wind speed, taken from our lifeboat station was gusting 30knts. Within my time being down there it had gone up to gusting 40+knots. It is now over 55 knots!"

Yesterday the Met Office issued an Amber Weather Warning for Wind for much of the UK. Winds are expected to reach 60mph which is likely to cause dangerous debris and potentially bring down powerlines.

Coastal areas are expected to receive extremely strong gusts and people have been advised to stay well back from the beach, and to stay at home if possible.

Devon's train services are experiencing delays and many schools across the county are closed
