Foodsave has opened a second branch in Beer in an 'exciting expansion of its services'.

Foodsave is a food charity which was established by Cllr Jake Bonetta in November 2020.

The organisation aims to reduce food poverty and food waste in Honiton and the surrounding villages. The service is available to anyone, and users do not need a referral. To date, Foodsave has given away more than 120,000 items.

The opening of a branch in Beer marks an expansion of its services and it is now able to partner with more stores and reach more people.

Jake Bonetta told Nub News: "We're very proud to support Beer and Branscombe through our second branch, working to reduce food waste and simultaneously giving away free food to anyone in the local area.

"My personal thanks go to the local volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to set this up for the benefit of everyone around them."

A spokesperson for Foodsave Beer said: "The initiative gives us an opportunity to share any surplus food that we receive with everyone.

"It helps the environment and brings the community together. This is a win-win for everyone, and we look forward to serving the communities in the coming weeks and months."

Foodsave in Beer is open every Monday 12pm-2pm and Friday 6pm-8pm from Beer Congregational Church.
