Planned strike action is due to take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October and customers are asked to travel by rail only if absolutely necessary.

The disruption is a result of RMT and TSSA industrial action.

There will be a severely reduced service on 1 October with much of the network closed entirely.

For customers wishing to get to East Devon there will be extreme disruption. There will be no trains at all west of Basingstoke and there will be no replacement buses.

Anyone wishing to travel to Honiton will need to travel by alternative means

There will be some services in the South East between 07.15 and 18.30 on a limited number of routes, for people who have no choice but to travel.

Any trains which are running will be much less frequent than usual.

On Sunday 2 services will start much later than usual and are expected to be very busy.

Staff at Network Rail, more than 2,100 SWR members of the RMT union, and SWR members of the TSSA union will strike.

The latest strike is the latest in a series of disruptions to the railways. There were strikes in June , July and August. Another strike was planned for the 15 and 17 of September, but it was cancelled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II earlier this month.
