Would you like to start an exercise class in Honiton? New funding is available

Local sports and community groups in Honiton are invited to apply for grants which aim to support new exercise clubs in the area.

The grants, which are funded by electricity provider National Grid, are worth up to £10,000.

The £500,000 initiative has been launched to improve health and encourage more people to take part in local sport.

The Active Communities programme is part of National Grid's wider Community Matters scheme.

Registered companies are eligible for a maximum grant of £10,000 whilst unregistered organisations are eligible for up to £2,000.

Applications are welcomed from any new exercise initiative, which could include team sports, dance classes or walking groups.

Groups from economically disadvantaged areas or those that provide services for marginalised groups are particularly recommended to apply.

The closing date for applications is Friday 28 July and you can apply here
