Honiton: Join in Jubilee celebrations with Right Royal Hunt and Spot the Object
The Honiton Jubilee Committee have organised two events for all the family to get involved in - Spot the Object and Right Royal Hunt.
In June the Queen will celebrate 70 years as Monarch, and she is the first Head of State to reach this historic milestone.
The government announced a special four-day bank holiday weekend, which starts on June 2.
Spot the Object and A Right Royal Hunt have been organised by Dawn White and Toni Hiscocks, who is East Devon's fundraising co-ordinator. All the money raised will be donated to Hospiscare.
Dawn told Nub News: "Hospiscare is a very special charity to me and my family and has helped a lot of our family members. It is in very much need of support to keep going.
"After organising similar events, and listening to the feedback, it seemed like a good idea to organise a fun event for the Jubilee.
"It also helps the local shops as whilst looking in the windows for the object people might see something they would like to buy, which keeps things local."
Spot the Object
Can you find the hidden object in twenty-five Honiton shops?
Jubilee themed items will be in place in shop windows from 30 May until June 6. Entries will then need to be returned to the post box in the pop-up Hospiscare shop at 13 Livermore Road.
All entries will be entered into a prize draw.
Right Royal Hunt
Homes across Honiton are being asked to create a royal character to put on display in their windows at home and be added to a map. Alternatively, they can decorate their whole home!
Families who participate in viewing the homes will be asked to choose their favourite and return it to the post box in the pop-up Hospiscare shop.
Homes will be decorated between 30 May and June 6 and there will be prizes for the best creations.
Activity packs for both events are available now from the Hospiscare Shop.
Other special taking place on the Jubilee weekend
Honiton Town Council and the Jubilee Committee have organised a range of events for the people of Honiton.
On Thursday June 2, a beacon will be lit on Roundball Hill at 9.45pm. There is also a Jubilee Fun Run on Saturday 4 June and The Big Tea street party on Sunday 5 June.
As well as this, there will be a special street market with music and entertainers on Allhallows Field.
