South Western Railway (SWR) have announced that there will be industrial action in early November, and this will affect train services through Honiton.

There will be strikes on the fifth, seventh and ninth of November.

On 5 and 9 November, more than 2,100 SWR members of the RMT union will strike. On 9 the November, SWR members of the TSSA union will also strike.

As seen on previous strike days, large parts of the network will be closed entirely. There will be no trains at all through Honiton - they will terminate at Basingstoke.

On other parts of the network, there will be a severely reduced service which will only run between 07:15 and 18:30. There will only be services on a limited number of routes for those who have no choice but to travel.

SWR have warned customers to expect severe delays throughout the strike period between November fifth and tenth.

If possible, customers should consider changing their plans now to avoid travel on these dates.

A spokesperson for SWR said: "We expect to run a severely reduced strike timetable on a limited number of routes, which will see large parts of the network closed entirely."

South Western Railway's Performance and Planning Director, Steve Tyler, said:  "I'm sorry that due to strike action we must urge our customers to only travel by rail if absolutely necessary from Saturday 5 to Thursday 10 November.

"Large parts of our network will be closed on strike days and there will be a late start up on the morning after. Those who must travel are urged to carefully check the times of first and last trains and avoid them if possible. "

November's strike action is the latest in a series of strikes that have taken place this year. There was a strike earlier in October, in August and July. A strike planned for September was cancelled due to the death of The Queen.
