Honiton: The Beehive needs volunteers to support its new busy programme of events
Honiton's award-winning community centre is in need of volunteers to help with their new projects and reopened cafe.
The Beehive, which is located on Dowell Street, is Honiton's community centre. It organises and hosts a wide range of film and music events, groups and meetings, such as this month's Devon's Minds Matter and Community FunD Day.
The staff at The Beehive are supported by a team of volunteers who fulfil a number of roles, including as technicians, bar staff, stewards on film nights and working in the newly reopened cafe.
Caroline Retter is The Beehive's Deputy Manager. She spoke to Nub News about how important volunteers are to the organisation: "Without our volunteers we would not be able to offer the varied programme of events on our programme or open our café daily."
Despite the number of people who already give up their time to help, more volunteers are needed if The Beehive is to be able to grow into the community and events centre that it needs to if it wishes to become financially independent
Caroline continued: "We are currently seeking to recruit more volunteers to join our team.
"The roles available cover a wide range of hours, so there is something to suit everyone. Stewards/bar staff and technicians are mainly on duty in the evenings and weekends, with some day time sessions occasionally."
Support is particularly needed in the cafe between 11am and 2pm and all day Saturday.
If you are interested in volunteering at The Beehive, you can find out more information here or pop into The Beehive and have a chat.
