Honiton: Would you like to be the new Market Assistant?

Honiton Town Council is recruiting a Market Assistant and the position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the community.

The successful applicant will work with Honiton's event organisers, the business community, market traders and members of the public.

The role of Market Assistant is part of Honiton Town Council. Responsibilities will include helping to manage the High Street on Market Days. You will be working alongside the Market Superintendent and will deputise in his absence.

The applicant should have a cheerful attitude, a level head and should enjoy working outside.

It will involve early morning starts, especially on Market Days of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The role is on average 12 hours per week, which will increase up to 24 hours per week when the Market Superintendent is absent.

A spokesperson for Honiton Town Council said: "The role will attract somebody who has a passion for making Honiton an even more vibrant town, an exciting place to visit and contributing to the economic vitality of the town, attracting more traders.

"The Town Council holds the historic Honiton Market Charter and the successful applicant will need to work with other Town Event organisers and the business community to manage the help High Street on market days and with maintenance work.

"This is an exciting time to join the Town Council to work with a dedicated group of Council staff and elected Councillors to work in the heart of Honiton's community."
