Another round of strikes is due to take place this weekend, and it will mean there are no trains running through Honiton.

This weekend's strikes are expected to the be largest strike day in many decades because several unions have co-ordinated their strikes to make the biggest impact.

South Western Railway have asked customers are requested to only travel if absolutely necessary as there will be a very limited service and much of the network will be closed entirely.

On Saturday 8 October there will be a small number of trains running in the South east, but there will be no trains to Honiton. Trains will be terminating at Basingstoke. Trains that are running will only operate between 0730 and 1830.

There will be no replacement buses.

On Sunday 9 October South Western trains will run to their usual timetable, but due to the impact of the strike on the previous day, trains will start much later than usual and are expected to be extremely busy.

Customers wishing to travel on either day should check their journey online they travel.

If you already have a ticket for Saturday 8 October and you decide not to travel you will be able to claim a fee-free refund. Alternatively, you can use the same ticket to travel the day before the date shown on the ticket or up to and including Tuesday 11 October. You can find out more information here.

This is the latest in a series of strikes and disruptions to affect the railway network in Devon. There was a strike earlier this month, as well as in August and in July, There has also been engineering work and trains were cancelled and running at reduced speed due to excessive heat .
